Assistant Professor of African-American Studies/History
Penn State Altoona invites applicants for a tenure-line Assistant Professorship in African American Studies/History, to begin Fall 2022 (or thereafter, as agreed upon). The successful candidate, whose tenure home will be History, will teach courses in African American History as well as introductory courses in African American Studies. Duties may also include teaching cross-listed courses in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, other related areas of humanities and/or Communication Arts & Sciences, as deemed appropriate. Faculty are also expected to engage in collaborative and/or community research and perform/participate in relevant service activities.
Requirements: Ph.D. in History, African American Studies, or a related field by the start date.

One of the 20 campuses in the Pennsylvania State University system, Penn State Altoona is an undergraduate residential college of nearly 3000 students, located in Central Pennsylvania, within a 2-4-hour drive of several major metro areas, including Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Baltimore. Penn State Altoona's classes are small, with a low student/faculty ratio.
