AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY. The Department of History at The University of Memphis invites applications for a non-tenure track Instructor position in African American History, starting in Fall 2022. This is a one-year position that may be renewed for two additional years, contingent on satisfactory performance. PhD in History preferred, but advanced ABDs in History will be considered. Open to any time period, geographic area, or topical focus in African American History. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 3-4 load the first year that includes survey courses in African American and U.S. history as well as upper-division undergraduate and graduate courses in those fields, both in classroom and online formats. The Department of History is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty, and we therefore welcome applicants from historically underrepresented groups.
