The History program in the School of Humanities at the University of Southern Mississippi invites qualified applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the history of nineteenth or twentieth century Britain to begin Fall 2022. In particular, applicants whose research will add to our strengths in gender and/or sexuality or war and society are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities will include teaching world and European history surveys, upper-level and graduate courses in field of expertise, and directing theses and dissertations in a doctorate-granting program.
The University of Southern Mississippi is a student-centered R1 research university located in the “hub” city of Hattiesburg, only 90 miles away from historic sites in New Orleans, Jackson, Mobile, Biloxi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Applicants are expected to demonstrate an active research agenda. Promise of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service are expected. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
