Part-Time AP U.S. History and World History Maternity Leave Sub

Kehillah Jewish High School is seeking a Part-Time (8 am - 12:00 pm) substitute History teacher to cover for a maternity leave beginning January 3, 2021. Must be experienced teaching World History and AP U.S. History. The right candidate will need to be fully prepared to cover all of the curriculum content and skills as deemed by the College Board, leaving enough time for student review prior to the AP exam.

Requirements include at least three years teaching AP U.S. History and a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution. Must be adept with Zoom and blended or flipped technologies. Salary will be prorated, commensurate with experience.

According to Kehillah Jewish High School’s COVID-19 policy, all teachers, staff, and students are required to be fully vaccinated unless there is a physical or religious exemption and are tested weekly. All classes are taught in person on our Palo Alto campus.

- Develop daily lesson planning with clear objectives.
- Assign and evaluate classwork and exams to students; prepare required reports and communicate progress to parents and colleagues.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction; adapt new technology and teaching strategies to encourage the progress of individual students.
- Post accurate and timely student attendance, grades, and other required records on PowerSchool/Schoology.
- Attend and contribute to department and staff meetings, as needed.
- Join the Student Confidential Learning Plan as needed.
- Use effective classroom management techniques in accordance with the policies of the school.
- Provide timely and tactful feedback with parents regarding student progress including quarter and semester comment writing; make phone calls home for students of concern.
- Attend and participate in departmental initiatives.
- Guide student behavior to foster academic achievement, personal responsibility, intellect, and individuality.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students.
- Live in the State of California and work on campus during the Employee’s regularly scheduled hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experienced AP teacher, familiar with AP US History curriculum and rubrics.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution; master’s degree a plus.
- Minimum of three years teaching AP U.S. History.
- Experienced in best practices in education and pedagogy.
