The Department of History is seeking to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor of the history of China. We invite applications from scholars in all time periods (classical to modern) specializing in a wide range of themes relating to Chinese history, including but not limited to those with a transnational or interregional focus. Duties include research, teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and service to the institution.

Qualifications and assets
Candidates must have completed their PhD in History or an allied discipline or be near completion at the start date of the appointment. The main criteria for selection are scholarly and teaching excellence and a demonstrated commitment to supporting our department’s equitable and inclusive learning environments. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer-assessed publications and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The department values diversity among its faculty and strongly encourages applications from women and members of underrepresented groups. The language of instruction at Concordia is English, but a working knowledge of French is an asset.
