The Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies seeks a specialist in Islam. The candidate’s geographical region of specialty is open, but competency in at least one additional religious tradition is strongly preferred. We seek a scholar who can contribute to already existing programs in gender studies, ethnic studies, or interdisciplinary studies. In addition to courses in their area of specialization, the successful candidate will teach thematic topics in the study of religion in CSUB’s General Education program, maintain an active research agenda, and perform departmental and University service.
• PhD in Religious Studies (or related field) by the start of the position.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including first-generation students.
