invites applications for 2022-2023 Harry Starr Fellowship in Judaica
The Starr fellowships for 2022-2023 will be available exclusively to recent Ph.D. recipients working on topics in Jewish Studies and the Arts, including History of Art and Architecture, Visual Studies and Visuality, History of Music, Ethnomusicology Studies, Film Studies, History of Theater and Dance, Performance Studies. (These fellowships are intended for scholars working on scholarly projects in these fields, not for artists or performers, or practitioners.)
Preference will be given to candidates who have received the Ph.D. degree between May 2019 and May 2022. Applicants who do not have the Ph.D. degree in hand at the time of the application must provide a letter from their advisor stating that they will have the Ph.D. in hand by June 1, 2022.
Starr Fellows must be in residence during the time of their appointment (unless University policy, due to the pandemic, forbids Harvard-sponsored travel and access to Harvard buildings and resources). Starr Fellows must minimally be in residence during the spring term, but we encourage Fellows to be in residence for the entire year. Starr Fellows will receive a stipend of $40,000 for the spring semester or $60,000 for the full academic year.
