Assistant Professor of Classical Archaeology
Institution Type: | College / University |
Location: | Pennsylvania, United States |
Position: | Assistant Professor |
The Departments of Anthropology and Archaeology and Classical Studies at Dickinson College invite applications for a tenure track position in classical archaeology. We seek a classical archaeologist with teaching and active field research specialization in the archaeology of the Mediterranean region, time period open.
The teaching load is five courses per year. In rotation with other department faculty, the ideal candidate will teach required courses in the archaeology major, including: Archaeology and World Prehistory, Archaeological Methods, Archaeological Theory and Interpretation, and a senior undergraduate archaeology seminar. Other courses will be in the candidate’s areas of specialization that contribute to both archaeology and classical studies as well as college initiatives related to sustainability, diversity, civic engagement, and global education. We are particularly interested in candidates who are associated with an active archaeological excavation program and who will involve undergraduate students in field and lab research. The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate.
