Assistant/Associate Professor of U.S./Borderlands History

Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas, invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of History, starting Fall 2022.

We seek to hire a historian with a proven interest in innovative pedagogies and demonstrated success engaging a highly diverse student body with an entrepreneurial approach to higher education.

The successful candidate will teach both parts of the North American history survey (conceived more broadly as a continental history), a history of Texas (conceived more broadly as Texas and the borderlands) for education majors, and a range of lower- and upper-division courses in the department’s skills-focused curriculum.

Requirements:

• Doctorate degree in History or related field (ABD will be considered if degree will be complete by August 2022)
• Passion for teaching
• Some experience with assessment and curriculum development
• Willingness to engage in professional development, both pedagogy and scholarship
• Willingness to engage in community service and public outreach
• Willingness to support the mission of Texas Lutheran University

Desirable:

• Demonstrated ability to teach classes that can be cross-listed in African-American Studies and/or Women's and Gender Studies
• Interest in collaborating with the Mexican-American Studies program
