The DFG Research Group "De/Sacralization of Texts" (FOR 2828) is seeking to fill a
3-year PhD Position/Research Fellow (f/m/d, 65%, E 13 TV-L) in Peace and Conflict Studies
The position is associated with the project on "Holy Scriptures and War". The successful candidate will analyze how Christian and Muslim communities in Ivory Coast and Benin are interpreting their religious traditions and whether different practices of interpretation are associated with different patterns of political radicalization and group mobilization.
The post will start on 1st January 2022. The salary is from 33.100 to 37.300 € per annum depending on work experiences. The successful candidate is expected to pursue a doctorate in political science at the University of Tuebingen in the context of the project.
The successful candidate will have a very good master’s degree in political science or a neighboring discipline, profound knowledge of French, and be willing to conduct field research in Côte d'Ivoire and Benin. Knowledge of Islam would also be an asset. In addition, they should have excellent communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team with other colleagues across the research group.
