The Department of History at Thiel College invites applications for a tenure-track position in United States History.
Teaching responsibilities will include: American surveys and upper-division courses in United States History. Areas of specialization are open, but preference for those candidates whose teaching at both the survey and upper level would foreground race and diversity in American history and society. Candidates should have an interest in joining an undergraduate department where teaching in a small classroom environment is emphasized. Expectations include: 4/4 teaching load, developing engaging pedagogy, openness to interdisciplinary courses, advising, and active involvement in the campus community. Candidates must have a Doctorate in History with candidates currently completing doctoral work considered.
A dedicated passion for helping students reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive diverse environment is essential to this position. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, student supervision, and professional development. While Thiel College gives highest priority to teaching effectiveness, the faculty will be expected to remain current in the field through professional development opportunities such as attendance at related conferences, research, or other scholarly activities.
