Position Introduction
As part of Vassar College’s five-position Cluster Hire Initiative in the Study of Race, Racism, and Racial Justice, the Department of History at Vassar College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Asian American History beginning in the Fall of 2022.

Position Description
Specialization in 20th-c U.S. history is required; focus may be in any subfield, both topical (such as histories of law, labor, politics, immigration) and geographical (Asian American experiences of South Asian, Southeast Asian, East Asian descent). Teaching responsibilities include U.S. history and courses cross-listed with Vassar's American Studies and Asian Studies programs. Teaching load in the first year is four courses; after that it is four courses plus a tutorial-style “intensive,” which may include supervision of senior theses.

Candidates must have the Ph.D. in History or related field in hand at the start of employment. Candidates should submit a letter of application, C.V., graduate transcript (unofficial transcripts are accepted at the time of application), a statement highlighting contributions to or future plans for promoting diversity and inclusion through teaching, research, mentoring, and other involvements, three letters of recommendation, and writing sample (no more than 40 pages) to Chair, Asian American Search Committee, History Department, Vassar College via https://employment.vassar.edu/postings/2144.
