The Department of Religious Studies at Yale University is looking to hire a tenure-track assistant professor in South- or South-East Asian Religions beginning July 1, 2022. We seek a scholar of Hinduism or Buddhism in South or South-East Asia, with these traditions broadly defined, who works within any humanities research methodology including but not limited to history, philosophy, literature, material culture, or ethnography. The teaching expectation is normally 4 courses per academic year, plus service to the program. The focus of the courses would be South- or South-East Asian Religions, but candidates who can also work beyond that field, such as teaching the aforementioned methods, are encouraged to apply. The appointee must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree or have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. by July 2022.
