The History Department at Albion College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in global history with specializations in Africa and the Global South, to begin August 2022. The ability to teach transnational, gender, science/medical, and/or environmental topics is highly welcomed.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates who can address the needs of a diverse student body and contribute to building a more diverse and equitable college community, including through the use of inclusive pedagogies.
Teaching responsibilities include an introductory survey in African history as well as mid-level and advanced courses on the Global South and other topics of the instructor’s choosing. The course load is 3/3, with one course every year contributing to an interdisciplinary program such as a First Year Seminar (FYS) or the Honors Program.
Ph.D. in hand is preferred, but candidates in the final stages of completing the dissertation will be considered. Albion College is a private liberal arts college of approximately 1,500 students. It is situated in a culturally diverse community in south-central Michigan within an hour's drive of the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Western Michigan University.
