Assistant Professor of Public or Applied History

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate classes in Public and/or Applied History, as well as US or World History surveys and upper-level courses in at least one of the following: Asia, Africa, or the Middle East. Ability to teach effectively, scholarly achievement or research, continued preparation and study, contribution to student growth and development, and service to the university and community must be demonstrated. This is a 1 year, fixed-term position.

The Department of History aims to offset parochialism and ethnocentrism by offering courses dealing with as many as possible of the world’s civilizations, nations, and peoples.
The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a professional goal to become an outstanding teacher-scholar through the use of research-based, best-practices pedagogy. They are expected to teach using both in-person and alternative delivery methods such as online and hybrid. They will regularly engage in ongoing professional development and innovation opportunities focused on pedagogical growth.
