Assistant Professor, Asian Religions (one-year term position)

The Department of Gender, Religion, and Critical Studies at the University of Regina is seeking to hire a one-year term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to teach in the Asian Religions concentration of its Religious Studies program. The anticipated date of commencement is 1 July 2021, depending on the availability of the successful candidate.
The Department welcomes applicants with expertise in any area of Asian religions. Candidates should have a completed PhD in a relevant discipline by the time of appointment. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated an effectiveness in teaching and supervising students in Asian religious traditions, competency in teaching introductory courses in Religious Studies, and a commitment to excellence in research. Applicants should also be prepared to implement remote modes of instruction (synchronous, asynchronous, or a combination of both), and to return to conventional teaching modalities (face-to-face) as public and university health conditions allow.
The Religious Studies program at the University of Regina is methodologically pluralistic and welcomes teaching and research that draws on a wide range of theories, methods and approaches. Religious Studies offers courses on a variety of religious traditions, current issues, and academic approaches to religious phenomena. The program enjoys seven full-time tenured faculty members shared across the University of Regina and its federated colleges of Campion and Luther Colleges.
