The History Department of the United States Naval Academy invites applications for the Dr. Leo A. Shifrin Chair, a distinguished visiting professorship endowed by the Viola S. Shifrin Trust in 1997, for a 10-month period beginning the fall semester of 2021. Holders of the Shifrin Chair are distinguished naval and military historians of any era, field, or specialty who pursue research and teach while in residence. The department is especially interested in applicants who will be exemplary mentors and role models to our highly diverse student population. The United States Naval Academy (USNA) is a four-year undergraduate institution with a mission to prepare midshipmen morally, mentally, and physically for commissioning as officers in the naval services.
