The successful candidate will offer one course per semester while directing the Shut It Down project housed in the School of Education. The Shut It Down project is a program that works to interrupt the school-to-prison pipeline through coaching St. Louis area K-12 teachers and administrators in restorative justice practices. Candidates must demonstrate commensurate scholarly potential, works in progress, plans for future research, connection to intellectual communities that will support a productive research plan, and potential for success as a teaching scholar. Candidates should also demonstrate strong teaching potential including experience teaching African American Studies to a diverse population of undergraduates, and commitment to excellence in teaching research mentoring of undergraduates.
