The Department of History at St. Norbert College invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure track appointment in Asian history at the rank of assistant professor, to begin August 2021. Area of geographic specialization is open (East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, transregional/transnational).
The successful candidate will demonstrate skills in and enthusiasm for teaching at a liberal arts college as well as strong scholarly potential in historical research. PhD is required, either in history or in one of the exciting related interdisciplinary fields, as are strong language skills in their field of research. Advanced ABD will be considered, but the successful candidate must have PhD in hand by August, 2021. Teaching duties consist of three courses per semester, including introductory courses in East Asian history, major courses by specialty, as well as contributions to the Core Curriculum. Ability to teach one or more courses in Chinese history is preferred.
