The Department of General History at Tel Aviv University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Western History, 1400-1990.
The Department of General History seeks researchers who focus on one of the following areas and/or the relation among them: Western Europe, Colonial America and/or the United States. There may be a preference for a candidate whose research contributes to the understanding and the discussion of the broad contexts of contemporary global issues, such as the environmental crisis, the emigration crisis, the economic and social gaps, difficulties of stabilization of democratic regimes, the challenges of a multi-cultural world and gender relations. The job requires versatility in tutoring research students and in teaching.
Requisites of the position:
• Ph.D at the time of filling the position.
• Excellence in research and broad knowledge of historiographic debates
• Academic publications, published or accepted for publication
• Ability to perform independent research
• Versatility in tutoring and teaching Western History
• Teaching in Hebrew, by the beginning of the third year of employment
Salary and conditions will conform to Tel Aviv University regulations. Appointment procedures will be carried out according to the rules and regulations of Tel Aviv University and are subject to the approval of the University authorities. The position is effective from October 2021 and the academic rank will be determined towards the beginning of employment.
