About the History Department:
The Department of History prepares students for service by studying the past as it relates to the present and to the future. Our approach affirms diverse heritages, welcomes long-neglected voices, applies innovative tools, interacts with other fields of study, and cultivates the virtue of hope in a world both deeply divided and globally interwoven.
Faculty in the History Department contribute to teaching in a number of cross-disciplinary programs, and we would value a candidate who could teach in any of these programs: Social Justice/Cultural Studies; the Honors Program; Asian Studies; majors in the School of Government, Business, and Economics; and/or the Spanish Studies and Spanish Heritage program.

The start date of this position will be September 2021. We prefer that candidates have PhDs in hand by August 2021. Candidates should provide evidence of strong teaching skills and of a deep commitment to diversity.
We seek a candidate who can teach about underrepresented histories of the U.S. from any time period and/or who can place U.S. history within a larger regional context.
