The Department of History at Cornell University seeks applicants for an open-rank endowed chair in China and Asia-Pacific Studies in the long 20th century with a preference for a focus on the post-1949 period. The position is full-time tenure-track at the assistant, associate or full professor level. We seek a scholar whose teaching and research is on China and the Asia Pacific region in the world and has Mandarin language skills. Candidates should exhibit superb research achievements, excellence in teaching, and leadership ability. In addition to teaching courses in the history department, the successful candidate may potentially serve in a leadership capacity in Cornell’s CAPS program and also teach courses in that program (https://caps.cornell.edu/).
