Lecturer in Religion
|Institution Type:||College / University|
|Position:||Assistant Professor, Lecturer|
The Religion Programme at the University of Otago invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Religion. We welcome applicants from a range of disciplines and specialties, but applicants should have research expertise in Asian religions and be able to demonstrate sophistication in using social-scientific and/or historical methods.
In this role you will be required to teach three papers (courses) each year. In 2021, these will be upper-level undergraduate courses on Mahayana Buddhism, on Zen Buddhism, and on the Body in Asian Religions. Some of these courses will also be taught in subsequent years, but there will also be scope to introduce courses of your own design.
In addition, you will undertake research and share the results of your research through appropriate avenues including academic and popular publications, conferences, and workshops or seminars with stakeholders in the wider community.
This is a three year fixed-term appointment. The appointee will ideally be expected to take up duties by 1 January 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter. Applicants are asked to indicate the date they would expect to be available to take up duties.
