The Human Rights Studies Program at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for a Lecturer for the 2020-2021 academic year. Primary duties will be to teach HMR 140A (Human Rights and the Popular Imagination), HMR 138 (Human Rights, Gender and Sexuality), HMR 134 (Human Rights), and other courses as assigned, depending on the successful candidate’s training and expertise. Assignment of classes, hours of instruction, and office hours are at the discretion of the program. Classes taught are typically between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Salary is commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience. This appointment is renewable contingent on program teaching needs and funding. The successful candidate will join a growing interdisciplinary community of scholars committed to excellence in Human Rights Studies research, teaching and public engagement. Requirements Ph.D. in a relevant Humanities or Social Sciences field. Experience teaching a course independently, evidence of teaching excellence and/or potential for excellence in Human Rights Studies, and a developing record of scholarly or professional achievement in an area of expertise related to Human Rights Studies is preferred. Expertise in Middle East, Africa or South/East Asian Human Rights Studies desirable.
