The Department of History at Florida International University is hiring an instructor able to offer lower division surveys of Modern American History, beginning fall semester, 2020. Candidates must have teaching experience with lower division courses drawing large and diverse groups of students. The position includes opportunities for professional development leave, a path to promotion to senior and university instructor, and 1 or 2 course releases from the standard 4-4 load based on high enrollments, curriculum development as related to hybrid and online course offerings, student recruitment and advising. The person to be hired would offer face to face and online courses at both the lower and upper division levels, and interface with relevant programs in the Steven J. Green School for International and Public Affairs, the Wolfsonian-FIU Museum, and the Wolfsonian-FIU Public Humanities Laboratory, as appropriate. The selected candidate must demonstrate commitment to active learning methods and service to the department, college, and university.
