The Department of Religion at Florida State University seeks a two-year postdoctoral teaching fellow in Africana religious studies beginning in August of 2020.

We seek a scholar working in Africa and/or the global African Diaspora outside of the United States. We will consider specialists in any and all religious currents. Candidates may specialize in any historical period. We are equally interested in projects that take religious-studies-oriented approaches to a range of pertinent issues including but not limited to ethics, human rights, immigration, law, gender and sexuality, material culture, performance, philosophy, public health and race and ethnicity in African and African Diaspora communities.
The fellow will teach two courses per semester and be expected to participate in departmental activities. Applicants must have successfully defended their dissertation by August 2020 (and received their Ph.D. no earlier than August 2015).
