Responsible for researching, writing, developing, and maintaining the official publications of the U.S. House of Representatives. Conducts research and prepares information for publication in print and digital formats. Compiles and distributes historical information and materials. Provides reference assistance and assists on various special projects assigned to the Office of the Historian.
Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner. Strong writing and proven research skills are essential, as is the ability to edit and proofread documents. Experience writing on historical subjects for a general audience or working with a documentary editing project are strongly preferred. Familiarity with content management systems, electronic research databases, and digital communication methods is required. A Master’s degree or higher in history, public history, or related experience is preferred. Ability to work in a team-oriented work environment is required. Must be competent in the operation of IBM-PC compatibles and able to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
