The Department of History and Politics at the College of St. Scholastica invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Global or International History, beginning September 2020. Candidates should have broad interdisciplinary interests in modern history, international politics, and global studies. Regional areas of specialization are open, with some preference for Latin America or Asia. Thematic areas are also open but might include environmental history and sustainability, human rights, or peace and justice movements.
Teaching load is three courses per semester (traditional and online formats) and will include introductory courses in world history and political science, upper-level courses in modern history, and courses in environmental history and politics, US foreign relations, and globalization. In addition to teaching, this position requires research and scholarship, professional activity, and college service.
A Ph.D. in history or closely related field is required by time of appointment. The successful candidate must be ready to contribute to our strong tradition of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
