Assistant Professor, Pre-Modern World History
The Ohio State University at Marion invites applications for a tenure-track position in Pre-Modern World History whose primary area of expertise is in the Non-Western World (excluding Africa) before 1750. The appointment will begin in Fall Semester 2020. Specializations in Ancient or Medieval Near East, or South Asian/Indian Ocean history are particularly welcome. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a broad interdisciplinary and comparative perspective on themes in world/global history. Responsibilities include teaching courses in global history in the pre-modern period and senior-level seminars in World History, conducting research, and engaging in service to the university. A Ph.D. in History is required at the time of appointment. Faculty members at the Marion Campus are full members of their departments at The Ohio State University and are evaluated accordingly.
The search committee will begin considering applications on February 1, 2020.
