Research Training Group „Media Anthropology“; 10 PhD Positions, 2 Post-Doc Positions, 2 PhD Scholarships; Weimar, April 1st 2020.
The German Research Foundation has awarded funding to the Research Training Group "Media Anthropology", to be located at the Faculty of Media of the Bauhaus-University Weimar. Starting on April 1, 2020, up to 10 PhD Positions, 2 Post-Doc Positions and 2 PhD Scholarships will be financed.
Due to the pervasive influence of digital media in nearly all areas of life, the relationships between media and humans have become problematic in a number of ways. Questions about the transformation of our environment have become just as virulent as those of amalgamations or possible differentiations between “media” and “human”. This situation requires a media anthropological perspective that foregrounds relational and operative dimensions of both mediality and the various modes of human existence. The PhD students and Post-Doc researchers of the Research Training Group “Media Anthropology” will explore these and similar topics, informed by a background of cultural techniques and media philosophy.
The primary working language of the Research Training Group is German. The research projects can however be conducted and written in English. Strong command of German and English is required.
More detailed information about the program, its focus and curriculum, can be found here: www.uni-weimar.de/gkma
