The Department of History at Arkansas State University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in European history before 1500. The area of specialization is open. Experience in digital humanities and/or public history is preferred and we highly encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply.
We seek applicants who are interested in joining a vibrant and collegial department with a growing research profile, a dedication to teaching excellence, and a commitment to community engagement. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in European history and the pre-1500 world history survey. They will have the opportunity to assist with our growing digital and public history programs, our regional National History Day event, and in reimagining our current curriculum. The teaching load is 4/4, but course releases are common for pre-tenure faculty and for faculty with substantial research or service commitments.
Arkansas State University is a R2 university with over 13,000 students, with bachelors, masters, and PhD programs. It is located in Jonesboro, Arkansas, a growing city with approximately 70,000 residents. Resting on Crowley’s Ridge in northeastern Arkansas, Jonesboro is a little more than an hour away from Memphis, Tennessee.
