The Department of History and Philosophy at the University of New England invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position specializing in medical history, starting August 17, 2020. The specific time period and regional specialization are open. The successful candidate will join an energetic, dedicated and highly productive department committed to the History program’s skills-based and hands-on teaching.
The department seeks candidates with the ability to teach introductory and advanced courses in medical history, expanding on the university’s strengths in the biological and health sciences. Candidates will also teach courses in the two-semester sophomore world civilizations curriculum (which can be thematically focused on medical history) and other courses in their area(s) of specialization. Candidates with the ability to teach U.S. history are desirable. The successful candidate will participate in academic advising; curriculum development and assessment; and service to the department, college, and university.
A master’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) in history or a related field is required. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
