The Department of History at the University of Northern Iowa invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Public History to begin in August 2020. The successful candidate will help to expand an established concentration in public history at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate will teach and develop courses in the Department of History as assigned, based on departmental needs in public and US history, including introductory courses. The candidate will also supervise history student internships, serve as coordinator for the undergraduate Public History minor and Public History Certificate, serve as the department liaison for the interdisciplinary Interactive Digital Studies B.A. and the Museum Studies Certificate, and contribute to the M.A. emphasis in Public History.

A Ph.D. in US History, Public History, or a closely-related field is required by August 1, 2020.
Successful applicants must show a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, an active research agenda, effective communication skills, and experience in public history.
Teaching experience, experience in applied public history and/or digital history, and a commitment to working collaboratively with community and history stakeholders are preferred.
