The Department of History at The College of Idaho invites applications from engaging and passionate teachers for a tenure-track assistant professor position in US history, beginning in fall 2020. Teaching load is 3-1-3 and specialization is open.
The successful candidate will teach U.S. and Civilization surveys and a wide range of upper-division courses covering the breadth of US history, with considerable freedom to shape offerings according to expertise and interest. The department values candidates who have experience working with and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds. Thirty percent of the students at The College of Idaho are first generation attendees, 18 percent are international students representing 88 countries, and 15 percent are Latinx. Generous professional development support for research, conference travel, and sabbatical leave is available.
A strong commitment to undergraduate Liberal Arts education and demonstrated successful teaching experience is essential; successful candidates will also have an active research agenda. The successful candidate will join a student-centered department where teaching and mentoring are valued as the highest priority. A PhD in History at the time of appointment is required.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as of the expected hire date and throughout the date of the contract without sponsorship from The College of Idaho.
