Lincoln Land Community College is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Psychology beginning fall semester of 2020. A completed master’s degree in psychology (or equivalent within a Ph.D. program) is a minimum, but a Ph.D. in psychology is preferred. Teaching experience, especially at a community college, is viewed favorably.
This position includes teaching 15 contact hours per semester of assigned classes, which may include teaching evening or weekend hours and at campus locations throughout the district and possibly online; preparing course syllabi and lessons; guiding and assisting students; keeping accurate records of student performance and making timely submission of academic records; providing students with timely feedback; maintaining office hours; participating in departmental/institutional operations and program review; creating a learning environment that fosters student success; developing, integrating, evaluating and reviewing student learning outcomes in support of the College’s ongoing accreditation; and contributing to a collegial and collaborative work environment.
We are seeking a generalist in psychology with a broad range of graduate-level coursework germane to teaching Introductory Psychology. Ability to teach additional subjects in psychology, such as development, is also essential. Specialists in counseling or therapy need not apply unless coursework in other areas is sufficient. A completed master’s degree in psychology (or equivalent within a Ph.D. program) is a minimum, but a Ph.D. in psychology is preferred. Teaching experience, especially at a community college, is viewed favorably.
The Department of Social Sciences and Business consists of 20 full-time and 47 adjunct faculty and delivers more than 500 sections of instruction annually. Members of the department advise several student organizations. LLCC is seeking innovative educators who place student learning and success as top priorities. The college is interested in applicants who demonstrate expertise in providing engaging, active learning approaches and utilize current assessment techniques to continuously improve student learning in their programs. The successful hire for this position will be a team player with a dedicated commitment to departmental, institutional and community service.
Starting salary is determined by education level and experience and will be between $45,725 and $82,229. The college provides an excellent fringe benefit package and is supportive of faculty development. Opportunities exist for overload and summer teaching assignments. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.
