The Cluster of Excellence „Contestations of the Liberal Script” (SCRIPTS) analyzes the contemporary
controversies about the liberal order from a historical, global and comparative perspective. It connects the
academic expertise in the social sciences and area studies in Berlin, collaborates with research institutions in
all world regions and maintains cooperative ties with major political, cultural and social institutions

Job description:
Scientific services in research within the cluster project “High Hopes and Broken Promises: Young Adult Life
Courses in Senegal” (for a short description of the project:
https://www.scripts-berlin.eu/research/research-projects/high-hopes-and-broken-promises/index.html);
development of an individual research project related to the cluster project; elaboration, implementation and
analysis of qualitative interviews to be conducted in Senegal and France; training and coordination of project
work (archival research/interviews) of Senegalese Ph.D. students; publications on relevant research results

Requirements:
Completed university degree as well as PhD in social sciences, history and/or area studies (focus on Africa
desired); very good English and French skills; desired qualifications: keen interest in Mix-Methods Studies,
experience with quantitative demographic methods or the collection and analysis of qualitative interview data in
Africa, research experience in francophone Africa
