The Department of Humanities at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the history of Asia and the World, broadly defined, beginning August 2020. The preferred fields are modern East Asian, modern Southeast Asian, or Asian American history. Preference will also be given to candidates working in a comparative, transnational, or global context or specializing in the broader history of trans-Pacific and U.S.-Asia relations. The teaching load is 3/3. The successful candidate will teach upper division courses in Asian history, two sections of the candidate’s preferred half of the U.S. Survey each semester, as well as undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the area of specialization. Candidates are expected to be quality teachers, scholars, and citizens of the academy as demonstrated through a variety of student learning outcomes, refereed publications, external grants, and through service on local and professional committees.
PhD in history is required; advanced ABD considered, but must have PhD in hand by August, 2020.
