|Institution Type:||College / University|

|Position:||Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Editor|
The Department of History at Kansas State University seeks a full-time tenured Associate Professor or tenure track Assistant Professor of 19th and/or 20th century U.S. history beginning August 2020. The field of specialization is open, but the department especially encourages candidates who expand upon the department’s strengths and whose work has the potential to illuminate Kansas’s place in U.S. history. Teaching responsibilities include an undergraduate course on Kansas history as well as introductory courses in U.S. history and upper division and graduate courses in the successful candidate’s areas of specialization. The teaching load in the department is currently two courses per semester, but service as editor of Kansas History entails a one-course-per-year teaching reduction.
The successful candidate will become the managing editor of Kansas History: A Journal of the Central Plains. Kansas History serves as the journal of record for the state of Kansas. The editor will supervise undergraduate and graduate students affiliated with the journal and work as part of a team with the associate editor. In addition to overseeing the production of four yearly issues, the editor will manage the journal’s internal and external relationships, budget, fundraising, and outreach. A previous record of successful administrative and/or development experience is preferred.
