The Department of Communication invites applicants for an Assistant Professor in International Health Communication to begin in August 2020 pending budgetary approval.
Candidates should have an active research record in international health communication. All theoretical and methodological approaches to international health communication are welcome. A fundable research program is a plus. Work in the area benefits from the university’s location in the heart of Atlanta, one of the nation’s media/communication centers, home of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Cancer Society, and a large International Airport. The scholar’s research might also be advanced through connections to the department’s Center for Global Information Studies, its trans-cultural violence initiative, the college’s Creative Media Industries Institute, the University’s Partnership for Urban Health Research, or the School of Public Health. International Health Communication is supported by colleagues in health communication; international communication; strategic communication; media effects; ethics; cultural studies; and rhetoric.

Candidates should have a completed Ph.D. or terminal degree in communication, public health or a closely allied discipline at the time of employment. Applicants should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae (CV), research statement, teaching statement, and the names of three references. Letters of recommendation will be requested of candidates who advance during the search process. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach effectively in the Department's diverse undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department of Communication at Georgia State University offers undergraduate degrees in journalism and speech, M.A. degrees in communication (research) and digital media strategies (professional), and a doctoral degree.
