Description
The Tufts University Department of Studies in Race, Colonialism, and Diaspora, in the School of Arts & Sciences, invites applications for two tenure-track Mellon Foundation assistant professorships. These positions are part of a cluster hire funded by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
Qualifications
The Department seeks scholars whose work contributes to one or more of the following fields: Africana Studies, Native American/Indigenous Studies, Asian American Studies, Latinx Studies, Transnational American Studies, or Colonialism Studies. The Department promotes new approaches to comparative and relational inquiry, and is particularly interested in scholars who unsettle established paradigms, such as by studying Comparative Race and Empire; Critical Indigenous Studies; or, Hemispheric, Archipelagic, or Global Humanities. The Department of Studies in Race, Colonialism, and Diaspora was founded in 2019 and is dedicated to the comparative and interdisciplinary analysis of race, indigeneity, colonialism, empire, ethnicity, migration, and diaspora in constituting and shaping societies and cultures in the United States and around the world. A PhD in a relevant discipline or field is required by the start of the appointment on September 1, 2020. In addition to those specified above, other such relevant disciplines include, but are not limited to, Anthropology, Cultural Studies, History, Literature, Political Science, Sociology, and Visual Studies.
