Middlebury College
The Department of History at Middlebury College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor in the history of Colonial America, Revolutionary America and/or the Early Republic to begin in Fall 2020. The candidate's area of expertise should include African America and Native America. The successful applicant should have a Ph.D. in hand by August 2020, and will demonstrate an ability to teach a variety of courses on 17th and 18th century America, as well as the pre-1861 survey. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach 4.5 courses per year, and advise senior theses depending upon enrollments and departmental demands. Candidates will also contribute regularly to the college-wide curriculum, including the first-year seminar program and the four-weeks winter term. Applicants should provide evidence of commitment to excellent teaching and scholarly potential. Consideration of applications will begin October 15, 2019.
