The Department of Religious Studies in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Religions of South Asia. Required teaching would include survey courses on “Religion in India” and “Religion in Asia” and upper-level courses in the candidate’s areas of specialization. Scholars whose work involves issues of politics or social justice, and/or addresses the relationship of religion and health are especially encouraged. We welcome candidates whose interests contribute to the thematic clusters in the department and who can form connections with colleagues in allied departments, programs, and centers at the university. PhD in Religious Studies or a related field expected at time of appointment. The position is outside the tenure stream and starts in the fall term of 2020, pending budgetary approval. The initial contract is for three years and is renewable. The Dietrich School has a career development path for non-tenure-stream faculty with the possibility of promotions within the rank of Lecturer.
