The Department of History at the University of Missouri, Columbia, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Modern German History (nineteenth century to present) to begin Fall, 2020. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in History or equivalent degree in hand by the start of the appointment. ABD candidates must be prepared to send a large enough sample of their dissertation upon request to assure us that they will have the Ph.D. in hand by 15 August 2020. The position requires a strong research program and an ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. We will ask candidates shortlisted for the position to provide a research statement and substantial writing samples.
