The Department of History at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for an open rank, full-time, tenure track appointment in the history of Nineteenth-Century America, with emphasis in the Early Republic or Antebellum Era. We anticipate making an appointment to begin in August 2020 at the rank of full Professor, Associate Professor, or advanced Assistant Professor. Field of specialization is open. Candidates must have a Ph.D. at the time of application. Duties will include serving as the Director of the Papers of Andrew Jackson, and working with an experienced team of editors. Relevant editorial and administrative experience preferred. Candidates are expected to have a strong research record, teaching expertise in nineteenth-century America, and an interest in engaging with the intellectual life of the department and university.
