Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service
Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence
Institution Type: | College / University |
Location: | District of Columbia, United States |
Position: | Assistant Professor |
The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University invites applications for an assistant professor, tenure-line position in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. The ideal candidate would have an impressive record of scholarship and publication in the areas of cyber and/or A.I., a clear upward academic trajectory, and real practical knowledge of national and international security policy. The successful candidate would be expected to teach courses in both cybersecurity and A.I. as they intersect with international security affairs, and would have enough relevant technical skills (such as computer forensics on the cybersecurity side, or neural networks, machine learning, and deep learning on the A.I. side) to teach in both of those areas. The candidate would also apply such knowledge in his or her research and publications, and have the scholarly promise to eventually achieve tenure.
The search committee welcomes applications from young scholars – i.e., junior faculty, recent Ph.D.s, or those who expect their Ph.D. by time of appointment – who are poised to help define the emerging academic fields of cybersecurity and A.I. in the coming years. The teaching load is two courses per semester, which will include contributions to the Security Studies Program M.A. curriculum.
To apply, please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a representative writing sample, three letters of recommendation, and if possible, evidence of teaching record (syllabi, course evaluations, etc.). All applications and supporting materials must be submitted through the following link: https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/14342. Faxed, emailed, or mailed applications will not be accepted.
Applications accepted immediately with review beginning on October 1, 2019. Invited interviews will occur shortly thereafter.
