Assistant Professor, Atlantic World History

The Department of History and Social Sciences at LaGrange College invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Atlantic World History beginning August 2020. Area of specialization is open, but candidates will be expected to teach departmental survey courses as well as upper division undergraduate courses in the field. Training in public history is a plus as is the ability to offer a course in African history and/or Latin American history. Given the institutional and departmental focus on teaching and service, candidates must be committed to the college’s First Year Experience program (Cornerstone) and the department’s engagement programming (National History Day Georgia). The selected candidate will participate in the college’s Interim term and will have the opportunity to develop both on campus and “study away” courses. The teaching load for this position is 3/1/4. PhD in hand by August 1, 2020. Evidence of teaching experience/effectiveness is required.
