The Department of History at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, in New Brunswick invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position, beginning Fall 2020, at the Assistant or Associate professorial rank, in Twentieth-Century African American History. The department particularly welcomes applications from candidates who specialize in Black Internationalism, which can encompass a range of different areas of inquiry, including transnational histories of Pan Africanism, decolonization, grassroots organizing, Black radicalism, neocolonialism, cultural exchange, or Black expressive culture; and a range of geographies including the Caribbean, Black Atlantic, Black Pacific, and Latin America. Intersectional approaches that engage gender, sexuality or other vectors of difference to these topics are especially welcome but not required. Candidates must have received a Ph.D. by the start of the appointment.
