The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures in Indiana University’s Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies invites applications for a tenure-track position as assistant professor in modern and contemporary Japanese literature and cultural studies to begin August 1, 2020. The successful candidate will be able to work across arts and humanities disciplines and have expertise in one or more of the following areas: modern and contemporary Japanese literature, film, popular culture, and media studies. We especially encourage those scholars to apply whose work cuts across genres and media. The successful candidate will contribute to the undergraduate and graduate programs of the department.
Candidates must have a doctoral degree or clear indication that the degree will be in hand by July 31, 2020, an active research record involving Japanese-language sources, and native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English. The teaching load is two courses per semester. All applications received by October 4th are guaranteed full consideration.
