The University of Michigan Department of History is seeking to fill the A.M. and H.P. Bentley Chair, an endowed chair for a distinguished historian with a demonstrated record of scholarly achievement, successful teaching, and strong graduate mentorship. Advanced associate or full professors are invited to apply. We are interested in innovative work in any field, with a preference for exceptional research, teaching, and scholarship that adds new dimensions to our department. Familiarity with digital methodologies, commitment to publicly oriented scholarship, and broad engagements with diversity work are all desired strengths. This is a university-year (9-month) appointment. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2020.
