Assistant Professor, African American history

The Department of History, Political Science, and Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position starting in August 2020.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach survey and upper-level courses in African American history and U.S. history. Subfields in African Diaspora, world history, or geography subfields are welcome. The candidate will work with colleagues to help recruit and advise students and provide service to the departmental, the university and the community. In addition, the candidate will conduct on-going research for peer-reviewed publications in their area of expertise as prerequisite for promotion and tenure. Faculty members are also expected to participate as members of capstone committees and contribute to department programs.
Delaware State University is located in central Delaware. It is centrally located along the Mid-Atlantic Corridor within 2 hours of Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, DC and about 3.5 hours to New York City. Opportunities are available to support faculty travel and research and programming initiatives.
1. Education: Ph.D. in History or in African American Studies with a specialization in history in hand by start of employment
2. Preferred experience: university/college level teaching
The criteria for evaluation in this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of the DSU Fundamentals
2. DSU-AAUP CBA requirements, especially Chapters VII, VII, XII
